Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in Data-Driven Modeling and Structural Twins
Applications are invited for one (1) Junior Research Fellow (JRF) position under the ANRF-ECRG sponsored project at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad.
Project Title: π-DUST: Physics-Informed Data-driven Modeling and Uncertainty Quantification with application to Structural Twins

Project Tenure: 3 years
Fellowship: INR 37,000 (Basic) + 20% HRA
Job Description
The selected candidate will contribute to π-DUST, a research program developing data-driven technologies for engineering systems. The project combines computational mechanics, artificial intelligence, uncertainty quantification, and digital-twin technology. The candidate will work within an interdisciplinary team and engage with collaborators from institutions such as Texas A&M University and Penn State University. This role offers opportunities to contribute to research publications, open-source software, experimental validation, and industry-relevant solutions while building an international research network.
Essential Qualifications
I. A First-Class B.Tech/B.E. (GATE qualified) or a First-class M.E./M.Tech./M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Applied Mechanics, Civil Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computational Engineering, or a related discipline.
II. Knowledge of solid mechanics, structural dynamics, or finite element methods.
Desirable Qualifications
I. Prior research experience in the application of AI/ML in structural systems is highly desirable.
II. Proficiency in Python and advanced computational/numerical tools (ANSYS Fluent, COMSOL Multiphysics, MATLAB, image-processing software).
III. Background in control systems.
IV. Candidates holding a Master’s degree in relevant research areas or possessing peer-reviewed journal publications will be given preference.
Age Limit
The upper age limit is 32 years as of 1st January 2026 for UR candidates. Age relaxation for SC/ST/OBC and women candidates will be applicable as per GoI norms.
